#UpCloseAndPersonal W/ @LatifSeesit
I had the chance to dig into the mind of the creator of one of the most creative brands coming out of Atlanta, Wisdom Brand's Latif. Read our dope interview.
1. Where are you from?
-I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY. I moved to Atlanta around 4 years old & was raised in Stone Mountain, GA.
2. How old were you when you first started drawing or doing designs?
-I started drawing in the 2nd grade & everyday from that point, I guess I found my passion. side note: I was a straight A student up to the 6th grade(when I started to fully focus on art).
3. Are you creating for yourself or an audience?
-I Definitely create for my generation, generations before, even generations after me. I strive to be an example of what is possible to accomplished by everyone including you. I am a huge contribution to the shift of consciousness that we're experiencing now. I stand for something that is bigger than all of us, the end of this system is inevitable, like a wise man said, "I might not change the world, but I'm going to manipulate it, I hope you're participating."
4. Do you have a method for your art?
-I use no planned method honestly, it's more on the bounds of a burst of creativity & just expressing that through art. Although I can say that I always base my art & designs off a topic or story line, to show the roots & ascension behind the piece, giving it meaning.
5. What’s your favorite piece of clothing you have created?
-My favorite creation from Wisdom has to be the Korrupt Wisdom collection, the main piece was the long-sleeve tees. Graphics: The distorted wisdom logo in Arabic calligraphy(on the front) stood for a corrupt country/society, meaning our country being subliminally controlled through media, work or schooling, forgetting our true purpose of ascension & evolution as one. The Wiser(wisdom mascot) head logo(on the sleeves), stands for our corrupted minds, displaying Wiser's distorted halo(crown chakra) which was implying that our chakras are broken.
6. What are you working on at the moment?
-At the moment I'm working on something called Wisdom University, addition to my A/W Collection. With this I don't even want to put it into words, I just want to show it. Hidden Tribe self-teaching program😉.
7. What are you doing when you’re not creating? What (other) hobbies do you have?
-Some of my other professions include photography, a form of visual art & one of my favorite things to create, also film directing/editing, I have film out I created in the 10th grade with my brother & nephew called Consequence(https://m.youtube.com/watch?v= GKLPltGhuWI ) which is a film directed to the youth, to raise awareness about making positive decisions & being conscious of the outcome. I definitely will be diving deeper into film directing in the future, that's another passion of mine.
8. What are people's reactions to your designs?
-Let's see, people are usually mentally stimulated if not completely inspired from just hearing how I manifested Wisdom. I noticed the impact I was making when in high school, teachers started buying my clothes, and just hearing people tell me not to quit, telling me to maintain what I was doing. People tell me I inspire them to be fearless, to take action & to create. Just recently I was sent a photo of a Wisdom tattoo from an old friend, my reaction was pure happiness, oddly I wasn't surprised because I know what it stood for & I knew what it meant to him. He told me to just continue what I'm doing, he's stands for my message & wants to see it global. That real support gives me reason to continue no matter what obstacles I'm distracted by ❤️👊.
9. What opportunities have you gotten from your artwork?
-I have been blessed with so much, so many beautiful things have been shown to me & just speaking on the topic feels me with euphoria. I have been blessed to intern under the business mogul Jeff Staple, I had the chance to receive knowledge & experiences from Buckshot of Blackmoon, I have been given the opportunity to speak with Millionaires and learn from their experiences, just so many accomplishments. I'm thankful for your interest in interviewing me and being featured on your blog, that's a great oppurtunity itself🙏.
10. Why name your WisdomATL?
-Simple. I chose Wisdom because, Wisdom is Having Knowledge Beyond Genius, Being Conscious & Aware of Oneself, Knowing Your True Potential. "Keep Your Mind On Potential". I chose Atl because, the brand was rooted in Atlanta along with myself.
11. Whats Hidden Tribe?
-Hidden Tribe is a family. It was created by me to keep my team of close friends & family unified, focused, conscious & aware. We stand with hidden ancient knowledge and represent a brotherhood based on pure love, in other words, Hidden Tribe: Enlightened street kids value hidden truths, seek knowledge deeper than school education. Tribe stands for brotherhood, valuing each other more than any amount of money or success. Love, respect & wisdom. Ascend.
12. What artists do you look up to?
-Artists of what craft exactly? I look up to Malcolm X for being an artist of the revolutionary mind, I admire my Mother for the artist mind she installed on me, I look up to Tupac for his aims in unifying his people, empowering women & standing for change.
13. Do you have a favorite art period?
-My favorite artist is my mother.
14. What do you want your legacy to be?
-My legacy left, will be exactly what I'm being interviewed about today, Wisdom & everything I stand for. By the time I'm gone the world will have already been way into the shift & the relevance of what I'm doing now will be shown. Ascend.
15. What other creatives have you worked with?
-A few creators I've worked with that truly inspired me would be DJ Esudd & his No Stress campaign, my friend Danny & his TRPL Threat Sneaker line(be prepared for that), the homie Quanie(youngandnappy) new age Basquiat, my whole Hidden Tribe, young, inspirational & powerful through music & art. There's so many more, you can check them out on my Instagram feed @Latifseesit , don't want to leave any names out.
16. Who supports your dreams?
-Everybody I come in contact with, Literally. Not a single unsupportive soul, and I'm so thankful.
17. Do you think GA is a good place for your art?
-I think Georgia is great place for art, I visit New York from time to time & seeing the urban beauty and culture out there is so inspiring, but I noticed there's something about Atlanta. I was brought here for a reason, the vibes I get here, the shift my generation is experiencing. New Atlanta will definitely speak for itself soon, this is where you want to be, just to witness this, there's a reason our roots sat here for minute.
18. Is what your doing now going to benefit you 10 years from now?
-What I'm doing now will benefit me 70 years from now. Think longevity.
19. What experiences in life have made you who you are today?
-The key points in my life that made me who I am today, were Love. Islam. Art. Love from my family, growing with them, being around the different personalities and minds with the right mind state you can learn so much from people. We weren't a perfect family of course, but I was always able to find love at home. Islam teachings from my mother kept me focused, righteous, conscious, observant, patient, & separated me in school from being same as others, which was a huge blessing. Art kept me in a heaven state, drawing erased reality for a moment and let me express my perception, a true passion.
20. When everything is said and done what do you want GOD to say to you?
-When I die I want GOD to say, Love.
21. Who are you?
-I am Latif Rashad born in Brooklyn, NY, raised in Atlanta, GA. Artist, real thinker & creator of WisdomAtl. My mission is to inspire you to create. "Keep your mind on Potential"
