Freshmen Of Atlanta Interview W/ @Corey_Kent

1. How long have you been rapping?
Ive been spitting since I was 15 , but since I was like 9 I been putting lil rhymes together or whatever

2. Who are your influences in music?
I'm influenced heavily by today's music. I am not a fan of the idea that hip-hops in a bad place right now, I think people are just looking in all the wrong places. People like Charles Hamilton, Curren$y, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Wale, and Rick Ross are some of my heaviest influences. Charles Hamilton's persisentence in freestyling, helped my rapping off the dome, while the lyricism and word choice of Spitta played a big role, rapid growth of Wiz, etc etc.

3. Where did you get your name from?
CKENT / CKentTheTruth come from my gov't name , Corey Kent (search on LiveMixtapes.com) , originally I added "The Truth" to the end of my name, I was originally so focused on making sure I spit only facts and that was a good foundation I instilled til now.

4. Why did you name your mixtape "Trappin for Tuition?"
I named my last mixtape, Trappin For Tuition not because I was necessarily moving kilos and bricks but I'm a college student, grinding it out, making it happen. Point blank period, at the end of the day , I make it happen .

5. What was going on in life during the making of the tape?
During the tape, I was working around a couple bigger names in the industry, in addition to just being around giants who had a big effect. I performed at Mac Miller's Macadelic Tour after party in ATL and also got to chop it up with Dom K a few times, and Freddie Gibbs throughout the make of the tape. It was also my first year in college . Brought a lot of experiences I got to share throughout the tape.

6. Who all did you work with for the tape?
On Trappin For Tuition I worked with a bunch of new producers, artist , and clothing brands. The artwork was done by "The Jeanocide" (TheJeanocide.com) , and hosted by DJ Burn via LiveMixtapes.  Hookman Kelz got a cold hook on Track #3 (Somebody Callin') ! , A$AP Ty of A$AP MOB got some production on "Nog Ya Head" , which also got a video out . There is some production from Taylor Gang's Cardo & Seldgren throughout the tape . Carl Breeding of course, has some beats on there . I got to get some production from Two-9's Curtis Williams also! Some of the other features include the homie M.A.C. on LIFE$TYLE , Quran Aziz on $WAGGY , and Wi-Fye (who also engineered the tape) , on "Next".
7.  Do you think it's important for an artist to have more of a street presence or a online presence?
Too many people are rushing to establish an online presence, when they could be getting a street presence to help make an online push with them.

8. Who do you want to work with in the future?
In the future, I wanna work with some of the big name producers such as Kanye, Lex, and Hitboy but I also am really looking forward to working with some of the top video directors to shoot some classic visuals.

9. Who supports you in your music?
I get support for my music from my friends, and fans . Those are the people that keep me going . People knocking , or jocking me show support in their own way too, that shit keeps me going .

10. Where do you want to be in 4 years?
In 4 years, I plan to have released my first album in stores.
11. If you weren't doing music what would you be doing?
If I wasn't doing music, I would be playing college ball .

12. What experiences in life made you who you today?
Moving around so much as a military child shaped who I am today . I've seen a bunch of different places and different people that have effects on me forevor.
13. Who are you?
I am CKENT . 19 yr old hip hop artist, songwriter, event planner, entrepreneur, and student . Follow me @CKentTheTruth for more ..

14. When everything is said and done what do you want God to say to you?
I want God to tell me that I made him proud and that I did my thing .
